Lago d'Orta
An oasis of peace
Lago d'Orta is the ideal place to relax where the air is clean, far away from the stress and the caos of the city. Dominated by Omegna, chief town of Cusio, this charming lake has in the middle the island of San Giulio, one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, with its stone buildings that reach the top of the mount where the cloister and the Basilica of S.Giulio are located.
Some of the many villages of the area are Ameno, Vacciago, Pella, Agrano, Corconio (and the tower of Buccione), Miasino (Villa Nigra).
From Omegna then Val Strona can be reached, famous for the handmade wood works, like Pinocchio di Collodi. Besides Strona, the charming villages of Sambughetto, Campello Monti, Forno and Fornero deserves a stop.
